Europe’s interest in sustainable investment is skyrocketing. With rapidly increasing inflows into ESG-related products and growing regulatory interest, this is just the beginning of a tsunami of change. Industry initiatives, now backed by regulation, are driving a new wave of complex data requirements, compounded by asset owners demanding further insights and accountability from their asset managers.

This is forcing market participants to turn to ESG data providers for help, with 95% of asset managers surveyed subscribed to at least one.

Firms need to ensure their technology and data platforms offer the flexibility and scale to cope with the uptick in multi-sourced, disparate data while meeting clients’ tailored reporting requirements, if they are to stay afloat.

During April – May 2021, Clearwater Analytics and Sionic undertook a joint survey of asset managers and asset owners across Europe looking at:

• ESG-related challenges of their operations and technology
• ESG data requirements and the use of external ESG data providers
• Their state of readiness for Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) and Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) reporting requirements

The panel will unveil and discuss the results of the survey and provide insights on their own operations.
