Sionic Expands Global Reach with New Luxembourg Base

We’re continuing our growth across financial services with the establishment of a new capability in Luxembourg

Sionic-Luxembourg is Sionic’s sixth European base and twelfth hub worldwide and comes exactly a year after the April 2019 merger of Sionic Advisors with Catalyst Development Ltd, including asset and wealth experts Knadel.

Sionic-Luxembourg is focusing initially on the fast-growing ‘closed-ended’ fund administration sector, covering activity in the highly specialist areas of private equity, real estate, infrastructure, debt, venture capital and the associated ‘fund of funds’.

Sionic also plans to introduce its wider portfolio of expertise in asset and wealth management, and banking services including financial crime and control, risk, regulation, technology and other transformation services to global, domestic and private banks, custody and depositary services, insurers and payment institutions located in Luxembourg.

The Sionic-Luxembourg team is being led by Sionic Managing Partner Paul Bratch. Paul is an international expert in closed-ended fund administration and a specialist in the associated operating models, service providers and systems.

Sionic CEO Craig Sher comments:

“Our ambition is to be the world-leading specialists in financial services, offering a full range of expertise to clients worldwide.  Through Paul himself and our Knadel heritage, Sionic has over 20 years’ outstanding expertise in the most technically demanding areas of the Luxembourg market. Combining that with our wider portfolio of specialist services means we can both address the concentration of clients within Luxembourg and use this latest new base as a strategic part of our wider European expansion.”

Sionic Luxembourg lead Paul Bratch adds

“Sionic-Luxembourg represents a major investment into exactly the areas of fund administration in which we excel. Having worked with many Luxembourg-based clients over more than twenty years, I know the opportunities on offer, and am excited by key areas of growth and number of new players entering the market. I also have a great affection for Luxembourg itself and am therefore delighted to now be living in Luxembourg building the Sionic presence and bringing Sionic’s market-leading specialist services to existing and new clients alike.”
